Speaking about the extraordinary power of the mass media to influence the human mind, the well known political figure, social worker, journalist and a member of the Rajya Sabha Shahid Siddiqui pointed out to the enormous responsibility which a maker of the mass media products must shoulder. The hon’ble member of parliament was addressing the students of Asian Academy of Film & TV. Commending the contribution made by Prof. Sandeep Marwah to the film and television industries worldwide Shahid Siddiqui said that the journalists must develop a capacity to perceive the truth as what we happen to see is most often not the truth. He was of the view that ethical journalism demand sacrificing personal interests. The renowned advertising guru Sam Mathews said that a maker of mass media products should have a vision. It is all important to create an idea and the technology only has to follow it, he added. Speaking on this occasion the renowned educationist Dr. J.D. Singh mentioned that a short cut to a goal is often a short cut to disaster and it is only the hard work which pays in life. Another well known Social Worker Shaeen Parviz also expressed his views on media education. Hon’ble Member of Rajya Sabha Shahid Siddiqui presented the academy award to AAFT alumnus Barkha Kaul in appreciation of her notable success in the entertainment industry.


Commending Sandeep Marwah for celebrating the birth anniversary of the pioneer of India cinema Dhundiraj Govind Phalke at Noida, the renowned cine star Anil Kapoor said that he is hugely impressed by the activities in the film city of north India. He was the guest of honour at a function organized on the 30th April at Marwah Films & Video Studio. In a fitting tribute to the father of Indian films, a biographical featurette was also formally launched by him on this occasion. The producer of this featurette and a highly acclaimed documentary filmmaker Dinkar Chowdhary said that he has spent three long years to find out as much as possible about Dadasaheb Phalke to script for this movie. He mentioned that hailing from an orthodox Brahmin family Dadasaheb Phalke studied art and architecture and worked as a professional photographer before taking to filmmaking.

Dadasaheb Phalke also strongly believed in the nationalistic philosophy of Swadeshi, he added. As is well known Dadasaheb Phalke produced the first ever Indian feature film – Raja Harishchandra – in 1913 made several short films, documentaries as well as historical, social and mythological feature films during his working life. The govt. of India instituted the coveted Dadasaheb National Film Award to commemorate the memory of this legendary filmmaker. Dinkar Chowdhary’s featurette will indeed inspire the gen next filmmakers. Addressing the gathering the chairman of Noida Deo Datta fondly recalled having shared the very same dais with Anil Kapoor eleven years ago. He said that the work being done at the Film City in general and Marwah Films & Video Studios in particular has played a significant role in the development of Noida region


American Film Society (AFS) has decided to honour, Sandeep Marwah, the man behind establishments such as the University of Media Arts and the Noida
Film City. New Jersey based film society will confer a citation and the award under the category “Outstanding contribution to the field of Cinema” in December this year.
Besides brain-child behind the genesis of the Noida Film City created in 1988, Marwah has been associated with many feature films and television programmes produced for more than 70 channels across the nation. He has been involved in imparting education to aspiring media professionals coming from all over the world too. Its through Institutes such as Asian Academy of Film and TV, Asian School of Journalism and Asian Academy of Fine Arts to name a few, which comes under the University of Media Arts. A veteran who holds expertise in media studies, Marwah has represented India in several film and television forums overseas.


Director of the Asian Academy of Film and Television, Prof. Sandeep Marwah was a special guest of honour at the mega musical evening organized by the Special Olympics Delhi an organization a headed by SIS of late President of USA John F. Kennedy.

The event had been commissioned for raising funds for the intellectually challenged children.

Celebrity artistes including Usha Uthup supported by the silk route and parikarma bands performed for the elite gathering. Noted Bollywood actress Dipti Naval was the other special guest of honour.

Actress Dipti Naval, Prof. Sandeep Marwah and Usha Uthup also released a compilation of he black and white photographs of special Olympians captioned “I am proud” jointly on the occasion (see inset). Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Marwah announced that his AAFT channel and Marwah Studios would extend maximum help in shooting the events organized by Special Olympics towards helping spread greater awareness about the noble cause initiated by Special Olympics for the mentally challenged children of our society.


Renowned Hollywood actor Parikshat Sawhney recently launched a new tele serial in association with the Marwah Film and Television studio.

Neraly twenty students from the Acting and Presentation streams of the Asian Academy of Film and Television participated in the enw venture. Parikshat Sawhney was highly impressed with the facilities and infrastructure existing at the Marwah Studios as he was with the overall performance of all the participating students. Chairman of the IMT, Ghaziabad was also present in the launch shoot ceremonies.


In keeping with its rich tradition of bringing performing artistes from various walks of life, the University of Media Arts recently played host to renowned Bharat Natyam exponent Smt Jyoti Shrivastava for demonstration workshop for the benefit of its students. Besides performing with her entire troupe, Jyoti spoke about the various nuances of the different forms of art and dance during her lecture cum demonstration session.

2nd International Film Festival on Cell Phone Cinema . Answering questions Shubh said that filmmakers indeed have a great opportunity to communicate with the masses and to convey message laced with entertainment. He was the view that each film could deal with at least one cause for the elimination of evils prevalent in the society and to make it a happy, healthy and balanced one. Asserting that by and large films are inspired by the life around us, Shubh said his first film Assma is a real life drama. The producer of the feature film Shakti Mukherjee said that talented and passionate film professionals could create their own space in the show world even without a god father. Addressing the large gathering on this occasion Atul Vyas of Indo-American Chamber of Commerce said that the initiative taken by Sandeep Marwah to promote cell phone cinema really ahead of time. Cell phone and the related technological developments have enabled every citizen of the world to make and watch movies anywhere and at anytime he added. Vedant Kanoi of, Harsh Narayan of and Shantanu of also shared their views with the audience on the potential of cell phone cinema. Subhand Hrishita Bhatt were made the life members of the prestigious International Film & Television Club on this memorable occasion.


Co producer of the internationally acclaimed film, Gandhi and Shatarnj Ke Khilari; directed by the immortal Satyajit Ray, Yati Jindal visited the precincts of the University of Media Arts recently. Currently associated with a number of foreign film production projects, Yati found time out of his busy schedule to address the students of the University of Media Arts on a Case Study straight out of his personal life history besides offering a one to one interaction with all the students present. Responding to a question, Yati stressed upon the need to have a strong determination alongwith talent, hard work and sincerity to be successful in the glamorous world of media..

Rajat Aroraa the alumni of AAFT is one of the most accomplished screen play dialogue writer with successful series such as CID ans AAHAT to his credit. .He has won INDIAN TELEVISION AWARD 2004 for teleplay writer and even has an entry in the Guinness Book Of World Records for co-writing the longest single shot episode.

Rajat made his debut in Cinema with Rohan Sippy’s ‘BLUFF MASTER and then followed by ‘TAXI NO 9211.Now he is writing for Milan Luthra’s new venture and David Dhawans new film HOOK YAN KROOK.

CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA is the latest venture of Rajat Aroraa, a multi crore film produced by Ramesh Sippy, Rohan Sippy and presented by Warner Brothers Pictures.The cast of the film includes Akshay Kumar ,Deepika Padukone, Ranvir Shorey,Gordon Liu, Mithun Chakarborthy, and Roger yuan. .The crew consists of Pony Verma as Choreographer, Dee Dee Ku as stunt Director, Himman Dhamija as Cameraman and Directed by Nikhil Advani.
Sandeep Marwah added that Rajat Aroraa deserves the Academy Award of the institute which shall be awarded to him in due course of time
